You ought to be watching Amazon Prime’s fabulous new series “The Man in the High Castle.”
You’ve heard me raving about the series ever since the pilot aired on Amazon at the beginning of the year. Long did we wait for the inevitable ten episode season release. In fact, we weren’t even sure after the pilot that a full series would end up in our queue. But it did. And, if you’ve seen it, you realize how lucky we are.
The alternative history sci fi thought experiment is based on Philip K. Dick’s novel of the same name. Amazon’s series isn’t a direct copy of the novel, but it’s basic premise is intact: the Allies have lost WWII, the Nazis and Japan control the United States, and the “Man in the High Castle” is collecting mysterious contraband films that appear to show the war having turned out in a way completely all-too-familiar to viewers.
Having binged the ten episode series in a week, I can wholeheartedly recommend it for bingeing this holiday season. It’s full of mystery, alternative history, great actors and a constant stream of whoa and wtf moments.0
