What was the pop culture thing you loved that your parents thought would rot your brain?

The pop culture culture wars were strong in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Bart Simpson, Al Bundy, Beavis and Butthead, and Eric Cartman: Controversial characters that were fodder for pundits and presidents to prove that we were in an era of entertainment rot.

Bradley listened to a new episode of Decoder Ring that examines the character of Bart Simpson and how he became the symbol of shifting cultural norms and a target for those who derided those changes.

It’s safe to say we survived the Great Bart Simpson Panic of 1990.

But every generation has those characters and pieces of pop culture that parents think will rot their children’s brains and lead to the breakdown of civilization. Well, we are still here and time has shown that a bratty 4th grader and a surly shoe salesman can’t take us down.

So we gotta ask, who was the pop culture thing you loved that your parents (or society) thought would rot your brain?

We think you turned out just fine.
