Reese Witherspoon and Ruby Rose have praised Taylor Swift for her empowering acceptance speech at the Grammy Awards on social media.

The Shake It Off singer became the first female to win Album of the Year at the Grammys twice when she scooped the award for 1989 in Los Angeles on Monday (15Feb16).

During her acceptance speech, Taylor told young females to not let others take credit for their success. This is thought to be in response to Kanye West’s new song Famous, in which he references Taylor by claiming he “made that b**ch famous.”

The lyrics refer to the rapper’s stage invasion at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, when he took the microphone from Taylor as she accepted the Female Video the Year prize and told the audience Beyonce was more deserving of it.

Speaking for the first time since the song was released last week (ends14Feb16), Taylor said onstage, “As the first woman to win Album of the Year at the Grammys twice, I wanna say to all the young women out there that there are going to be people along the way who try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame…

“If you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people side track you, someday when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there. And that will be the greatest feeling in the world. Thank you for this moment.”

Her empowering speech won praise from celebrities on with Reese writing, “@taylorswift13 Loved your amazing words! Keep encouraging all those young women to write their stories& sing their songs #Grammys,” while Ruby wrote, “Congratulations @taylorswift13 first you looked amazing, second you performed like a queen and you ended with an on point speech.”

Author and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ex-wife Maria Shriver also wrote, “Congrats to @taylorswift13 for making history at #GRAMMYs, but it was her speech to young women and women of all ages that inspired me Bravo.”

Members of Taylor’s ‘squad’ including Selena Gomez, Jaime King, Serayah McNeill and Hailee Steinfeld congratulated her three Grammy wins online, while footage from the ceremony shows Selena looking at the camera and mouthing, “That’s my best friend,” while Taylor is onstage.

Taylor, who also won Best Music Video for Bad Blood and Best Pop Vocal Album for 1989, celebrated at the Hyde Sunset Kitchen & Cocktail venue with Lorde, Ellie Goulding, Jack Antonoff and boyfriend Calvin Harris.
