Rob Kardashian credits Blac Chyna with reversing his Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis.
The 29-year-old reality star has turned his life around after finding romance with Chyna, a former exotic dancer and model who has a child with rapper Tyga, Rob’s sister Kylie Jenner’s boyfriend.
As well as becoming a recluse, Rob suffered from a variety of health issues – the most debilitating of which was when he was told he had diabetes.
Rob was prescribed the drug insulin to manage the illness, but stopped taking it for six months, leading to his hospitalization last December.
It was when he got out of the hospital that Rob realized his life needed to change, and Chyna, 28, was more than happy to step in and help her beau.
“It was a big-time scare. I had found out I had Type 2 diabetes six months before but I stopped taking my insulin,” he told People magazine. “I didn’t enjoy the routine. So I ended up non-stop throwing up, and I couldn’t even swallow because my mouth was dry. I felt like I was going to die. When I got out of the hospital, I knew I needed to make changes.
“Chyna and I had a really big talk and and she told me that by having her cook for me, my diabetes would be gone. And it is.”
Chyna put Rob on a strict exercise and diet regime, leading to the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star losing 30 lbs quickly. However, he then regained 20lbs.
“I am in that uncomfortable state again. I weigh 285lbs now. I’ve got to get back into the routine. But it’s hard because she’s pregnant and eats whatever she wants, and I enjoy eating with her.” But he has no plans to stay uncomfortable.
“Right now 210lbs is my goal,” he added.
While Type 1 Diabetes is widely considered to have a genetic factor behind it, Type 2 Diabetes is often associated with being overweight. Losing weight can be an effective way of managing Type 2 Diabetes and can, in some situations, reverse the diagnosis.0
