Rosie O’Donnell and her wife have broken up.
The star and her spouse of almost three years, Michelle Rounds, have been living apart for several months, Page Six reports. Due to the this, Rosie will step down as co-host of talk show The View in order to focus on her five children.
Rosie’s rep, Cindi Berger, confirmed the news in a statement to the publication.
“I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November. Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave The View. Next week will be her last,” the statement read.
The couple were married in a private ceremony in New York on June 9, 2012. In 2013, they adopted baby daughter Dakota together. Rosie also has four older children.
The outspoken star has been causing plenty of headlines of late due to conflicts with her fellow co-hosts. As well as on-going tension with Whoopi Goldberg, she’s also been involved in a number of on-air feuds with newcomer Rosie Perez.
Responding to the news, ABC only had kind words for the star as she goes through this challenging time, calling her “immensely talented” and “brimming with ideas, excitement and passion”. The spokesperson also revealed that she will remain within the ABC family.
“When she told us she wanted to exit The View, we respected and understood her desire to put her well-being and her family first. We’re delighted she’s still part of the ABC family with upcoming guest appearances on The Fosters, and we know she’ll return to The View often with her unique point of view and updates on her work and her family,” their statement read.
