Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s daughter is not named Violet as previously reported.
Speaking with USA Today as he promotes his new film, The Voices, the proud first-time father dispelled rumors his six-week-old baby is named after the colorful flower.
While the private couple have chosen not to confirm their infant’s moniker, the 38-year-old actor did give a little insight into just how his life has changed since welcoming the baby shortly before the New Year.
“No, that’s not the name. I don’t want to get into that but I don’t know where that came from,” the star confirmed.
“It’s still so new that it’s hard to conceive being away for more than seven hours at a time.”
While the Canadian-born actor made a star turn at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah last week in promotion of the upcoming drama Mississippi Grind, he admits he was “more excited to get a good night’s sleep.”
“It was borderline pornographic for me,” he laughs, adding that the couple have chosen not to have a nanny and are up every 45 minutes with the newborn.
“I don’t sleep very much. It’s great. It’s wonderful. But my brain is elsewhere.”
Opening up to People during Sundance, the sleep-deprived star revealed his very hands-on parenting approach.
“I gotta jump in and do all those sorts of things,” he explained, adding with a laugh, “I mean, I’ve even tried breastfeeding.”
“It’s frustrating for the baby and frankly disturbing for me,” he added of the experience.
In all seriousness, the proud papa said that he and Blake, 27, could not be happier despite the sleepless nights.
“It’s amazing that you can be that exhausted and that happy at the same time.”
