‘A Star Is Born’ to get re-release with additional 12 minutes of performances

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s hit movie A Star Is Born has been re-edited to include an additional 12 minutes of musical performances for a special one-week release.

Studio officials at Warner Bros. are hoping to cash in on the film remake’s Oscars success by giving fans an extended cut, which will screen in 1,150 theatres across North America from this Friday (01Mar19).

The new footage features extended versions of songs like the opening Black Eyes, Alibi, and an impromptu a cappella take on Shallow – the track which earned Gaga her first Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Other added scenes include one of Gaga’s ballad Is That Alright?, belted out by her character Ally in a wedding sequence, and another of Cooper singing Too Far Gone in the recording studio as his washed-up country star Jackson Maine.

The actors will also be shown writing previously unreleased tune Clover together in the new cut.

The news of A Star Is Born’s theatre re-release emerges three days after fans raved about Gaga’s set at the Oscars, where she and duet partner Cooper performed Shallow live, stealing the show with their sizzling onstage chemistry.

The Best Original Song award was the only Oscars win for the A Star Is Born team out of its eight nominations, which included Best Picture, Best Actor for Cooper, and Best Actress for Gaga.

A Star Is Born, which served as Cooper’s directorial debut, was originally released to critical acclaim in October (18), when it went on to gross $425.4 million (£319.8 million) worldwide.
