The winter finale of “How To Get Away with Murder” was last night, and I think we should change the name of the show to “How To Get Away with As Many Plotlines As Possible.”
What is going on with this show???
First, I love “How To Get Away with Murder.” It is the newest of Shonda Rimes’ TGIT (Thank Goodness It’s Thursday) lineup on ABC starring Viola Davis as a law professor and attorney who, with the aid of her most valuable students, must find her way out of difficult cases, most of which manage to involve her personal life.
In the first season, there were two key murder cases that needed to be solved. The plot was was intriguing and smart with plenty of twists and turns.
Now, there are so many people dying at the hands of the key players that I can’t imagine how Shonda Rimes can write their way out of it. And that’s not the only part of the show that’s unbelievable. There was a scene last night where a mother blames her son for a death and disowns him, and I found myself, along with a friend, thinking there is no way a mother would ever behave like that in real life.
I still love this show and I’m going to stick around, but I am worried that the plotlines are becoming too convoluted, and that Rimes may not have a way to logically save her main characters… and then what?
We’ll have to wait and see. The show returns in February 11, 2016.
