Tim McGraw cutting short gym sessions after stage collapse

Country superstar Tim McGraw is easing off his intense gym sessions as he recovers from his concert health scare on Sunday (11Mar18).

The singer sparked fears for his well-being after falling to his knees in the middle of his set during the Country to Country (C2C) music festival in Dublin, Ireland.

The concert was halted as McGraw received medical attention backstage, and his wife, singer Faith Hill, subsequently stepped out to apologize to fans, explaining the show had to be cut short as Tim was “super dehydrated”.

He was well enough to board a flight back to the U.S. on Monday (12Mar18), indicating he was on the mend by flashing a smile and a thumbs up sign to the cameras as he left his Dublin hotel, and upon arrival in New York, Tim insisted he was feeling “good”.

“(It was) lots of flying and dehydration,” he explained to a paparazzo, in video footage posted on TheBlast.com.

Tim also revealed he would be taking it easy with his regular exercise sessions for the time being, adding, “Gotta cut short my workouts.”

The 50-year-old has become known for his fit physique since quitting alcohol in 2008, and would typically endure two workouts a day, exercising for two or even three hours each time.

Back in 2013, he told People magazine of his new active lifestyle: “I do (the) elliptical. Or a treadmill. I will go back and forth between those two.”

He also encouraged his touring bandmembers to join him for a good sweat when on the road.

“On tour, I do that routine (elliptical or treadmill) in the morning and in the afternoon, I do a CrossFit (high intensity) routine and all the guys in the band do it with me,” he explained. “It is two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon. Sometimes it gets into three hours because we are loving what we are doing.”

Luckily, McGraw will have plenty of time to rest up – he and Faith are not due back on tour until 31 May (18), when they are scheduled to perform their Soul2Soul joint trek in Richmond, Virginia.
