If you’re in a rush, it can be tempting to simply shampoo your hair in the shower and opt for a speedy blow-dry.

However, any hair professional will advise always using conditioner, as it not only protects the hair shafts from damage, but also makes the strands softer and easier to manage.

“Never skip conditioner, especially if you have coloured hair as it can help to avoid removing the beautiful, new colour you just had. Conditioner helps protect your colour investment and hydrates and repairs hair at the same time,” shared Bruno Marc, brand ambassador for JOICO. “Always apply conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends of the hair and if hair is extremely damaged, apply lightly through the hair to avoid product overload. Look for a conditioner with keratin to really lock in moisture.”

Marc went on to recommend checking out JOICO’s K-Pak Colour Therapy Conditioner, which is rich in fatty acids to help protect against colour fade, but only needs to be left in damp, shampooed hair for two minutes before rinsing out.
