Winona Ryder has solidified her return to the spotlight in her new advert for L’Oreal, which aired during the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night (07Jan18).
The actress first shot to fame in movies such as Heathers and Beetlejuice in the early ’80s, before her life took a scandalous turn when she was arrested for shoplifting in 2001 – an incident which forced the actress to pull back from Hollywood.
In recent years, Winona has made something of a comeback, starring in hit Netflix series Stranger Things, and it’s this return to the top that’s explored in her new campaign – titled The Comeback.
In the advert, the 46-year-old shows off her glossy, brunette hair, styled in tumbling curls, as she stands in a room prepping for her apparent return to the stage.
As she pores over what appears to be lines for her appearance, and gently smiles as she looks at a bouquet of flowers with a note, a man then knocks on the door and tells the actress they’re “ready for” her.
Winona is then seen walking to the stage, all the while displaying her enviably shiny, healthy locks, which she apparently achieved by using the Total Repair 5 line – Elvive’s product line for helping damaged hair.
“Everyone loves a comeback. Damaged hair deserves one too,” a tagline reads, before Winona reads the famous line, “Because you’re worth it.”
Previously explaining the concept for the campaign, Anne Marie Nelson-Bogle, the senior vice president of marketing at L’Oreal Paris, said that Winona was the perfect choice.
“Everyone does love a comeback, and we will be communicating that damaged hair deserves one, too,” she said. “For Winona, we know that from TV sets to the red carpet, her hair has gone through many transformations.”
