I don’t know about you, but I was raised by Mr. Rogers. Okay – not really, I mean, my parents raised me, but the guiding voice of Mr. Fred Rogers has been ever present throughout.
Often you will hear me in my own parenting (and sometimes to my own self) reciting the wisdom of Mr. Rogers, for example, “Everybody’s fancy, everybody’s fine, your body’s beautiful and so is mine.” (Thanks, Mr. R).
As a child he and the whole world he created felt magical to me. As an adult, I hope to engage children in half the rapt wonder he was capable of.
The trailer for the new documentary, ‘Won’t You Be My Neighbor’ chronicling the life of Mr. Rogers has dropped, and I would be lying to you if I told you that in that 2 minutes (and 39 seconds) I resolved that what the children of the world need right now is Mr. Rogers but I fear they broke the mold. Nothing compares.
Get your hanky… ‘Won’t You Be My Neighbor’ from Focus Features, premieres June 8.0
