Dior has tapped Yara Shahidi to be its latest global brand ambassador.
The Grown-ish actress has signed up to be the face of the French luxury house’s womenswear campaigns, and represent designs created by creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, as well as cosmetics campaigns, on which she’ll work alongside image director of make-up, Peter Philips.
In an interview with British Vogue, the 21-year-old shared that she was excited to follow in the footsteps of Dior ambassadors such as Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman and Nina Dobrev.
“It’s pretty incredible to join the Dior family,” she said. “Not only do I love all their other ambassadors, but I think even their executive teams in both (the fashion and beauty) spaces are extremely collaborative. I had followed them long before there had been any talks about me properly joining just because of what they represent in terms of creative and artistic progress.”
Yara loves to experiment with different make-up looks and loves the “depth and breadth” and range of colours available in the Dior Beauty line, and she hopes to bring her playful attitude to cosmetics to the role.
“Hopefully I bring a playfulness to a space that is often so serious,” she explained. “Dior have really leaned into what I naturally love about the beauty and fashion spaces, which is a real honour because you can only hope to bring your own ideas to a team that has a skillset and creative vision as large as Dior’s.”
Yara likes to use Dior’s Forever Skin Glow Foundation for everyday and their matte Forever Undercover formula when she’s filming.
“It’s always important that if I’m going to represent something, I genuinely love and use the product,” she praised. “And having done that and gone through this huge, three-month-long stint filming and for the first time feeling really good about the skin I’m walking out with? That’s just great.”
The actress previously worked with Dior for International Women’s Day in March. She appeared in portraits and videos about activism as part of the brand’s Dior Stands With Women education and empowerment initiative, which was in partnership with the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project.
