You guys, I’m gonna be really sad if Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck divorce

The rumor mill won’t stop churning out stories about Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s marriage. The latest is that they are separated and will announce their divorce before their tenth anniversary on June 29th.

I didn’t realize this would hit me so hard.

Do you have a celebrity couple that you look up to? Like Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson? Or Brad and Angelina? I know how ridiculous it sounds, but for me, I think Ben Affleck and Jennifer Gardner were that couple.

Perhaps it was the fact that they were so open about the trials of marriage and parenting. They never tried to paint the picture that it’s all so easy and happy all the time. There was honesty in their public relationship.

When Ben Affleck accepted the Oscar for Argo, he thanked Jennifer for working on their marriage. He acknowledged that it’s hard work, but it’s the best kind of work. And I loved that.

Both Ben and Jennifer have said that they make their work schedules so that one can be home with the kids and the other can be chasing the dream at any given time, but they trade off and that has worked for them.

And now, tabloids are pointing out that the two haven’t been seen together in months, and that Ben was seen without his wedding ring far from his wife on her birthday. And when you add it all up, it does sound a lot like it’s headed the same way so many celebrity marriages go, toward divorce. And sources are saying that the announcement is soon and inevitable.

And I have to be honest. I’m really sad. I was pulling for this couple. I’ve always admired their honesty, and their openness about marriage and parenting, and how to try to balance it all.

But I’ll keep holding out hope that they’ll find a way to make it work.
